Those who are joining here as fresher here what you want to know. I'll talk about the most important thing i.e. placement (that CU highlight most).

They will highlight big-big numbers in ad and orientation, but TBH those are old data.

After admission in your 2nd year they will ask you money to sit on the placements in name of training. In this they will provide you Book (that's of no use) and they will teach you aptitude and communication. Now both subject are important for placement POV but giving extra 10-15k to learn is not at all worth it. Also if you don't pay the money the you will not be eligible to sit on placement drive (this they wont tell you while admission). If you pay you will be a TPP student otherwise Non-TPP student (Only TPP student are allowed to sit on placement drive). Suppose if you are in TPP then you have to be very careful in everything. Attend all aptitude class and communication class to maintain 90% attendance, attend all the meeting held by the higher authorities, if not they you will be debar i.e. you will be shifter to Non-TPP + ineligible to sit in drive + your 10-15k money you gave is also gone. So you have to play very careful here.

So now after you pay the amount and when you reach in your 5th end and 6th starting semester, then company starts to conduct drives. At start many good companies visit campus like Playsimple, Zopsmart, Zopdev etc with good package of around 10-12lpa, but the issue is they will only take only 2-3 students among all. So the competition is very high inside.

If you wont get a good job or internship in your 6th sem then from 7th sem max you will get are non tech role like Sales, Consultancy, Admission related Counseling type jobs. Also many mass recruiting companies like Wipro, Infosys, HCL, IBM etc doesn't visit.

Bonus Point

If you want to know the competition then in the placement drive not only you will be sitting. (All student of same branch + specialization ) of Chandigarh University and all student of that branch from CGC landran.
