ok I saw Frieda lepold’s new video on couture fashion on a budget and I am obsessed with this dress, but I have no idea how one would go about drafting the collar shoulder piece like she does. I’m confident in my ability to draft the rest of the dress, but that off the shoulder aurora-esque shoulder wrap escapes my grasp. does anyone have pattern recommendations or tutorials for something similar? I’m just looking for the shoulder piece, the closest I can find is a vintage vogue pattern but it’s kind of expensive and not exactly what I’m looking for, so if anyone has suggestions let me know!!

Hey guys! I thought y’all might appreciate project photos of my prom dress! I was super inspired by Frieda lepold’s lily of the valley dress, but wanted to add more of a historical influence, so I drafted some half boned stays based on some stuff I found online and historical boning maps. There were a lot of last minute complications and things that went wrong, at a certain point I thought I might have to be seen into the dress, but I ended up finishing about 2 hours before I had to leave for my friend’s! it was super comfortable and supportive, and I’m really proud of how it turned out, I’m definitely going to be wearing this around the house now 😁

edit to be more specific on sources, I used Mood’s free Avignon corset pattern as a base for the general shape of my stays cause my attempts at self drafting were tedious and unsucessful. I used Bernadette banners video on making a half boned corset to get an idea of the general shape and boning layout as well. The skirt I thrifted from a Ballgown, altered it to fit, and attached it to the lining of the stays. I used Frieda leopold’s video on corsetry changing the structure of the body to figure out how to attach everything together. if anyone has questions or wants more specifics I’m happy to share!
