Hi everyone,

I’m in the process of planning a celebration of life for a very close loved one who recently passed. I’m trying to keep things simple and affordable, but they had a lot of friends and I’d really like to create something meaningful where people can gather.

I’ve never done this before, and I’m doing all of the planning myself and working with a very limited budget. If anyone has suggestions for low cost venues or things that worked well for you in a similar situation, I’d really appreciate hearing about it.

A bit more context:

- doesn’t have to be fancy and this won’t be religious in nature

- Hosting at someone’s house is not an option due to the number of people we expect (maybe 100 at the high end, 50 on the low end? It’s hard to know for sure as we’re going to invite as many people as we can to say goodbye)

- Ideally looking for an indoor space because Calgary weather is too unpredictable, plus I’d like to set up a slideshow and a guestbook

- It would be nice if drinks were available for people to purchase if they want (not a must-have)

I’d also love any thoughtful ideas you’ve seen at celebrations of life that made them feel special or personal.

Thank you so much for any advice or experiences you’re willing to share.
