My sister got through Montfort BA. Her other options right now are Manipal Bangalore Psychology (confirmed) with Mount Carmel in the pipeline (interview scheduled).

Manipal has 3+1 option. With Research/Hons in 4th year provided she is eligible for certain criteria.

But Montfort only has a 3 year course. With no Research/Hons options.

Confused about what to do. Would appreciate some insights. Thank yo!

Witnessed a round of layoff at the exec level at my workplace yesterday. Saw our CPTO - the smartest leader in Tech I had ever worked with - let go.

I wasn’t impacted, but I can’t shake off the bitter feeling. I am 33, sole support of my parents. We never came from wealth, but I built mine over the years. I bought my own apartment in a metro city at 27, have myself and my parents fully covered, invest aggressively in different asset classes and work really really hard to give my parents a good retired life.

I married for love. My husband is in the same position as me. With no generational wealth, we are both building a life for ourselves and our families - one SIP at a time.

We are comfortable not extravagant, but the idea of one missed payment and not having a job keeps me awake at night.

And then I see my peers - some of them affording international vacations with their wealthy arranged marriage husbands even after layoffs, and some happily choosing to be stay at home wives, and can’t help but wonder if I pushed myself too far?

I don’t want to disappoint my parents and also the 15 year old me who vowed to reach for the skies and never quit.

How do you handle this sinking despair?
