Piano career opportunities in NYC beyond teaching?

I’m a pianist currently based in the U.S. I studied in Europe through an exchange program, graduated from a conservatory in Asia, and recently finished my Master’s in Piano Performance in the U.S. Right now I work as a piano teacher, but I’ve been thinking about moving more into accompanying/collaborative piano work or possibly theater/musical theater jobs in NYC. I wanted to ask people already in the field — how realistic is it to break into that scene in New York, and where do people usually find those jobs? Are theaters, opera programs, dance schools, audition studios, etc. usually hiring through connections only, or are there actual places/websites where accompanist jobs get posted regularly?

Would really appreciate any advice from people working in NYC music/theater.

Hi everyone, I’m a bit worried and wanted to ask if anyone has experienced something similar with their baby. My daughter is 9 months old. She is already crawling well and can also pull herself up and stand holding onto furniture. But recently she started doing something new: she gets into a hands-and-knees position and rocks back and forth repeatedly. She does this for about 1–2 minutes at a time, a few times a day. It looks like a repetitive movement, so I’m a bit worried it might be some kind of stimulation or something unusual. But at the same time, she is otherwise developing normally, very active, social, and meeting her milestones. Has anyone seen this in their babies? Did they grow out of it? Is this normal developmental behavior or something I should be concerned about? Thank you in advance for any advice or experiences.

My 9 month old baby fell off the bed today and I honestly feel really overwhelmed and scared about it. She was sitting near the edge of the bed and suddenly fell backwards onto her back and hit her head as well. She cried very hard for about 5 minutes right after the fall. After that she calmed down, and it also happened to be her usual nap time, so she fell asleep. When I try to gently wake her, she moves, reacts, and cries because she’s being disturbed, then goes back to sleep. Right now I don’t see vomiting or anything clearly abnormal, but I feel really shaken and anxious. I keep worrying about head injury or internal damage. I feel like I’m overthinking everything and I can’t calm down. I also noticed a red spot on the back of her head (she has a birthmark there usually, but it looked more red after the fall), which is making me even more nervous. I don’t know what to think anymore. Has anyone gone through something similar? What symptoms should I watch closely in the next 24 hours? Is it normal for babies to sleep after something like this? I would really appreciate any advice or reassurance.
