Hi. I recently completed an interview and assessment for the position of a linguistic expert. In the assessment, I was asked to type in IPA but there wasn't any virtual IPA keyboard provided. To type in the symbols of the International Phonetic Alphabet I would've had to use Google Docs or Microsoft Word.

I seriously don't understand how one expects candidates to show their skills without the right resources. In addition to this, the recordings for the sentences weren't provided. How is one supposed to transcribe in IPA without hearing?

I was disappointed with the assessment format and thought that it should be flagged for leadership.
