3 months, 2 rescinded offers, 1 background screening, and 0 chance of recovering from this.

I am going to try to make a long story short. Honestly, my experience with this hiring/onboarding/screening process has so many twists and turns that even the condensed version requires a lot of context.

Back in February I signed an offer letter for an Associate Banker Role. The phone screening, in person interview, offer, etc all went perfectly- probably my best job interview ever. I signed the conditional offer letter with an anticipated start date of March 16. I scheduled fingerprints, filled out onboarding papers, responded to every email- whatever else you can think of- ASAP because I knew that a start date two weeks from signing the offer letter was cutting it CLOSE even if everything gets submitted and handled perfectly. (I have worked at other banks so I am familiar with this whole process).

The Global Workforce Screening team reached out to me about two cases I had- one from back in 2018 and the other was last year in 2025. They requested for each case multiple documents, one of which was a court disposition OR if that was not available, a letter from the court/clerk explaining the case, etc. I had so much trouble tracking down the papers for the 2025 case. The start date was moved to March 23 because of it. FINALLY I get ahold of someone/something that could help. The lady I spoke with from the court on the phone was really nice and said she would get the document emailed to me, and she also said she was kinda new at the job. I thought the document she was sending was an official paper from the court, but it was just something she whipped up on the spot and put in the letter that my court case was open and active.

I got a call the Friday before my new start date that the offer is being rescinded but I am eligible to reapply and with no waiting period. Everytime I called ASK JPMC they kept saying that part- that I could reapply immediately and that it had nothing to do with my background check. Obviously they had to be vague, but several times I was put under the impression that all I had to worry about was being sure to submit documents in a more timely manner.

I talked to the hiring manager about all this, and she really loved me so she had the recruiter repost the exact position just so I could reapply. After about a month wait, I finally saw the job post and reapplied. Got a SECOND job offer letter immediately with no interviews. Got a call from the recruiter this time that they would be rescinding the job offer a SECOND time without any more details- just that i cannot apply or work here "right now...." (Keep in mind at this point I only went through ONE background check 2 months prior- we are in April at this point).

The manager got in touch with people internally cause she also had no idea why this kept happening. They also gave her vague answers obviously, but they put her under the impression it was from my background check. Few hours later I got a call from ASK JPMC that I cant work there with an open court case, and that I would have to wait three months after the case closes to reapply. I was so confused because I thought it had been closed for a while. She gave me instructions on how to dispute a rescinded offer, and then we would "go from there."

I went back to the court and got the JUDGE to whip up a disposition for me (cause for whatever reason I did not have that). I now have a signed document from the Judge with her official seal saying that this court case has been closed since October 2025.

I followed the ASK JPMC instructions on how to dispute and sent this document to the correct email and got the generic "we will pass it on to the review team and get back to you in 7 days blah blah blah."

Today I get a call from ASK JPMC from someone that obviously was in her own little has no clue what the fuck is going on, and is just doing whatever someone else tells her to do. She tells me the rescinded offer will not be reviewed because of the open court case. And I tell her "no, the court case closed in october; that is what I needed them to review." She said "Well at the time the offer was extended the court case was open." And I said "no... the court case has been closed since OCTOBER." And she said "Well, the review team said it was open and theres nothing we can do about it sorry." I told her AGAIN "I provided a document stating that this court case has been closed for MONTHS. I need to know why the review team is still under the assumption that its open." I asked if I could speak to someone who makes decisions like this or a higher up or whatever to see where is the disconnect?? And she just said she would forward the case BACK AROUND to the Global Workforce Screening Team for review.

It's been a long, emotional three months, and honestly feels like way longer. By this point, I've accepted a different job offer at another bank, and the hiring manager who was once was in love with me (our interview literally felt like a first date tbh lol) has since ghosted me and I assume found someone else either internally or not. But at this point I feel like I have to keep fighting this. Not to get the job at the end of it all. I guess I just want to clear my name, and prove I was right this entire time. I guess I just want them to say sorry for rescininding the offer two times and not telling me about this the first time around and wasting my time for months just so I could get another offer and rescind it A SECOND time. I feel like I was not given a fair chance during the screening process, and I don't think they are taking me seriously at this point.

And I think everyone's point about how I can reapply (even today I was told to reapply) would not work, because when I did try to reapply again, i get immediately rejected by ATS which makes me feel like my candidacy has been flagged or something.

Anyway, does anyone know if Global Workforce Screening WILL be reaching out? Cause honestly on the phone she didnt really sound like she was actually going to. She sounded like she just wanted to shut me up since I kept requesting to speak to someone else. How is this going to affect my ability to apply to a job at Chase Bank in the future? And if the review team DOES end up coming around and saying they handled this whole thing wrong and should not have rescinded the offer TWICE, what are the chances an offer could be reinstated? Cause I really believe that hiring manager would take me back in a heartbeat if that was the case. Even if it meant making up a whole new role for me. I feel as though her silence after that HR call was because she "had" to. I didnt want to put her in a tough spot and have her act as a middleman for me and HR so I think she just decided to stay out of it.

Sorry for the ramble-style nonlinear post. I hope it all makes sense. Any outside perspective or knowledge from a similar experience, etc would be greatly appreciated.
