Edit: okay I'm getting raked over the coals in the comments, but thank you all for your input. I realise now that I should have kept communication up after organising the date. I was oblivious to this, not uninterested in the guy. I guess I shouldn't really be dating if constantly chatting to someone I do actually like isn't a priority for me (it isn't), so I'm going to take time away from dating to focus on work, hobbies, and friends.
You match with a woman on a dating app.
You chat, you like each other, you organise a date and she's enthusiastic.
She gets busy and doesn't check the app for a few days, but it's still a couple days away from your date.
You block her.
Why?
This has happened a few times now, not just to me but to friends too. Are men assuming that because we haven't replied for 24-48 hours, we have ghosted them? Why the intense reaction of blocking though? Why not leave the convo open just in case she lost her phone (happened to a friend) or just got busy with life (my most recent example)? Do men not realize women also have lives? It's quite jarring to think "oh I haven't spoken to x for a few days, I better open the app and check we're still on for our date" only to find him gone completely.
I don't turn notifications on for dating apps fyi
