Hello! I recently thrifted (I’m assuming vintage) leather trench coat and it’s just way too long in the bust. Ideally, I don’t want to take it to a tailor if it can be avoided. Otherwise, I would like to un-sew the seam along the waist and lift the bottom half up (and cut the excess fabric) and then re-sew the waist again. I own a Singer but the leather is thick and I was thinking of sewing it by hand by following the punctured holes from the original seam (if that makes sense haha). This would be my first alteration and I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to take it apart or simply just take it to a tailor.
