A Midsummer Night's Dream in ballet

  1. George Balanchine's A Midsummer Night's Dream (1966 NYC production)
  2. Oberon and Titania in Frederick Ashton's The Dream (2017 Royal Ballet production)

Ballet adaptations of Shakespeare deserve SO much more love imo!

Only "partial" rcpd?

Hello, I recently found this sub and I thought I could share my experience because I'm kind of losing my mind 🫠

Everything started a little more than a month ago after I had a large, not-so-healthy meal (just as I'd done other times with no consequences), but it's been going on ever since.

I never had any sort of problems related to digestion, but suddenly I started feeling the need to burp constantly during the day. The constant burping evolved into struggling to burp, with air "stuck" in my chest and stomach, abdominal pain and bloating that would only get slightly better once I "expelled" the air (mainly forcing the burps with great struggle). This caused me several anxiety attacks over the course of a few weeks, adding difficulty to breathe and eat (I lost some weight in the process because I became almost scared to eat).

As of now, fortunately, the symptoms do not affect my daily life as strongly as they did before, but they're still very much present and incredibly annoying. It gets in the way of social life (eating out with people is always so embarrassing because I legit have to get up, go to a secluded place and force burps out), and I have to make sure to eat healthy and not too much every single time.

I still experience almost constant gurgling and "hiccups"/small burps that are kind of stuck in my chest (that's how I explain it, like air bubbles) every 2-3 minutes-ish, or with longer breaks between each if I'm lucky, alternated with regular burps from time to time which help the air out. I eat almost regularly now.

Could this be related to rcpd at all? I've done several medical exams and no one could tell what I have. Might be reflux or related issues, might be a hernia, or might be just a form of deep stress and anxiety that took a toll on my body. Could be anything and nothing, that's what the doctors told me, and no medication really worked. But it's getting kind of frustrating. I'm eighteen by the way.

Hi! I was planning to start a long read and delve into French classics as soon as I have an extended period of free time, probably this summer. Both of these masterpieces greatly interest me for different reasons, but I still have a hard time choosing between the two. It's highly unlikely that I'll get to read them both in the near future, or even finish one whatsoever (even though I really hope to). What would you suggest? If you read them both (kudos to you!) which one did you read first?

...of my patron gods and their lovers.

Radiant Apollo, your beauty is like a bright, warm ray of sunlight that wraps around me and kisses my skin.

Blessed be your devoted Hyacinthus too.

Ambiguous Dionysus, your beauty is like a fierce scarlet drop of the sweetest wine.

Blessed be your amiable Ariadne too and playful Ampelos alike.

Gorgeous Aphrodite, your beauty is everlasting, astonishing and boundless as the Sea.

Blessed be your lovely Adonis too.

Bitter-sweet Eros, your beauty is soft and pure like the prettiest dove, and prickly like a rose thorn.

Blessed be your fair beloved Psyche too.

Graceful Ganymede, your beauty is as open-hearted and innocent as a young lamb.

Tender Hypnos, your beauty is as gentle as the softest feather or cloud, so soft you can barely feel it as you drift off.

Blessed be all divine beauty!
