My girlfriends PC is crashing when playing specific games. Wondering if its just the dated components or something else.

RTX 2070
i7-9700k
32gb RAM DDR4

She usually only plays the sims without any issues, but recently she has been branching out and playing games like borderlands 4 and dying light: the beast. She has frequent game crashes while playing. Not the entire PC, just the game closes out. I turned on the Nvidia overlay that shows your cpu/gpu temps and usage percentage and the cpu and gpu stay around 70-80% the whole time and the temps are always good, even right before crash. She doesnt really care much for max setting graphics, so she plays on 1080 with the lowest settings on all the games. I know the components are old at this point, so maybe one/or all of them are the issue but wanted to get an opinion from people more knowledgeable. Just thought it was odd nothing skyrockets right before the crash. Want to get her whatever she needs for mothers day, so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.
