this is a new account so please don’t hold that against me.

the tldr is my diabetic middle aged husband didn’t get around to following up with specialist after a fibro scan that shows f3/f4 fibrosis and f/4 steatosis and now he has to wait another two months to see a specialist since the one his primary referred him to longer sees liver patients. i want to know if we should try to find a sooner appointment. the referral said “non emergency“ or “routine” or something. More info below.

my husband is a middle aged type 2 diabetic with non alcoholic fatty liver disease who had a fibro scan last year. his primary doc told him to follow up with GI but didn’t explain that there was any urgency. life happened and he just got around to seeing a GI who I guess no longer deals with liver disease so he was referred out to a different doc.

in the meantime the GI doc went over the fibro scan and his results sound (to me, a layperson) concerning. fibrosis was listed as f3/f4 with steatosis of f4. its my understanding that means he has cirrhosis. he had this scan almost a year ago. he hasn’t had any further imaging of his liver (although he did have an unrelated surgery six months ago and was cleared for that and has had standard blood work for check ups).
but now the soonest he can see the liver specialist is in July, slightly over two months from now. I have been reading about liver disease and I feel this may require more urgency. he hasn’t had a biopsy or anything. Should we try to find somewhere that can take him sooner? or have his primary order tests in the meantime?

thankful for any advice/help.
