The BEST products for barrier repair?

Was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to use, as my skincare routine is pretty acid heavy (BHA, Kojic, VitC, retinol), and I shave quite often (ethnic male👋)

Pretty much all i’m using right now is the Thayer’s Milky Toner, LaRoche Posay double repair moisturizer and an SPF50+ PA++++ sunscreen afterwards.

Are there perhaps other products I could use too? Or is this a case of diminishing returns past a certain point. Maybe a different moisturizer would be more effective? I’ve heard about cicaplast products. Thanks!

FOOD. NOISE. HELP.

I’m 21, 5’9, male. Food is all I can ever think about, food food food. i’m coming to the realization that this seriously feels like an addiction.

i know definitely it’s become a problem when the highlight of my day is the food i eat, and it genuinely makes my month when I treat myself to a cheat meal.

A lot of my nights are spent staying up studying for difficult exams (pre med life) and i can’t help but end up binging

i’ve been adhering strictly to my 1400 calorie intake for nearly 4 weeks now and it feels like torture.

If anyone has any general advice i’d rlly appreciate it

How can I improve my skincare routine?

Hi all,

It seems like you all are the experts here, so I was wondering if I could get some thoughts on my current daily skincare routine, and whether or not I am making any rookie mistakes / things that will actually worsen skin health.

For context, here are pictures of the current condition of my skin: https://postimg.cc/gallery/TLRVsfp

Can anyone tell me if my skin is "good" / "bad"? I'm unable to tell if there is comedogenic buildup/congestion.

AM:

1. Him's HighTide Hydrating Facial cleanser

2. The Ordinary's Caffeine under-eye serum

3. The Ordinary's Brow & lash serum

4. Thayer's Milky Toner (Snow mushroom, hyaluronic acid)

6. Paula’s Choice 2% BHA (salicylic acid) [This is to help w/ razor bumps]

7. SeoulCeuticals VitC serum (ascorbic acid, PDRN, hyaluronic acid, ferulic acid, d-alpha tocopheryl)

Am I “late” to wearing sunscreen?

Hi all,

All my life I was never really pushed to wear sunscreen in any capacity. Around 18 years old I decided to start wearing it and even made sure to do my due diligence and buy SPF50+ PA++++.

After a recent post I made on this very sub, i came to the horrible conclusion: the brand i was buying was FAKE. so not only have i been rubbing god knows what onto my face but my understanding is most of these “dupe” sunscreens have 0 SPF protection whatsoever.

i’m 21 now, in addendum to the fact i use retinol, kojic acid, vitamin C, and 2% salicylic acid, im worried ive effectively done irreversible damage to my skin at this point in time.

ive bought the right brand now of course, but is 21 onwards too late? most kids these days have been using it daily for years now :( Thank you

(21M) Officially diagnosed…where to go from here?

Hi all,

some background: i endured an incredibly stressful (trust me when i say that’s an understatement) for nearly 9 months last year, noticed lots and lots of shedding 2 months after stressed resolved

So the good (if you can call it that) news is that I was officially diagnosed with TE a few days ago, and it was NOT AGA, definitively ruled out by biopsy. Even better news he saw baby hairs all across my temple.

I’m just curious on how I should proceed from here. Dr. recommended nutrafol and red light cone therapy (FDA).

I’m still very worried, can I expect full baseline hair density and thickness to comeback? I used to have very thick, heavy curls and now it’s regressed to wavy and sparse, is my hair permanently damaged?

And how long did you all have to wait before your hair all came back? Dr. said the cover 2-3 cycles (6-9 months).

Any peace of mind would be appreciated, thanks in advance

Scared I’ve been using fake sunscreen

Hey all,

for nearly two years now i’ve been using the sunscreen (pictured right.). i bought a 5 pack shipped from a third party vendor on walmart for $35, it said it was on sale from the original $90. The seller was a verified seller by walmart and had a nearly 5 star rating

after buying a version off of amazon (pictured left) i noticed several changes. the front looks the same but the backs are different, not to mention that the version off of amazon has a “hazy” cap whereas the one i’ve been using is clear. The amazon one is also more “oily” going on and is odorless whereas the one i’ve been using is more watery and has a slight floral scent.

I’m very worried because i use kojic acid, vitamin c, retinol, and 2% salicylic acid in my skin routine. i know these all dramatically increase photosensitivity, so i fear ive accelerated my aging 50x

are these just US vs. Korean formulation differences or have i just fucked up my skin? thank you in advance

How the hell do I organize my routine?

Hey all, title. My primary concern is the amount of acids I'm using in the morning. I've noticed an erythema on my face as well as some comedogenal congestion on my face.

But I just don't know where else to put any of the stuff up there. Apparently I'm not supposed to mix acids with retinoids or the copper peptides so I'm very confused.

Not to mention that apparently I shouldn't be doing any of this after shaving in the first place but given how often I have to shave i just dont even know what to do

1.Facial cleanser

2.Shave (yes, i shave everyday bc of south asian genes)

3.Aloe vera aftershave

4.Toner (Thayers — snow mushroom, hyaluronic acid)

5.Kojic acid mix (kojic acid, alpha-arbutin, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, licorice root extract)

6.Paula’s Choice 2% BHA (salicylic acid)

7.Vitamin C serum (ascorbic acid, PDRN, hyaluronic acid, ferulic acid, d-alpha tocopheryl)

8.Caffeine under-eye serum

9.Brow & lash serum

10.Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench moisturizer

11.Skin1004 Centella SPF50+ PA++++

PM

1.Facial cleanser

2.Toner (Thayers — snow mushroom, hyaluronic acid)

3.GHK-Cu

4.Retinol + collagen cream (alternate nights with GHK-Cu)

5.Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench moisturizer

6.Volufiline (under eyes, chin)

7.Brow & lash serum
