Requesting a refund for services not rendered from Lowes, got a Release of All Claims document that needs to be signed before funds will be released
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
I contracted with Lowe's to install flooring in my home. After some modifications to the job details the flooring was installed over the course of 4 days. However, after looking through the Order Details document, I realized that there were materials and services that were not delivered and not performed that would need to be refunded. After several weeks of communications back-and-forth, I received the refund for the products that were not delivered. When it came to the services not rendered, however, it was determined that yes, I was due the amount I had requested, but in order to receive the funds, I would need to sign and return a Release of All Claims document. It seems to be a very overreaching document that would basically leave me with no recourse for any future issues that may arise with the flooring installation. I have emailed them back stating that it does not seem necessary that I sign this document, when I should simply be getting a refund for services not rendered with no strings attached. If someone could give me some advice as to whether this is a normal practice, and whether or not it is something I should accept, I would appreciate it. Perhaps I should file a complaint with the Attorney General of my state or maybe I should contact an attorney.
