I built a "Non-competitive" journaling app based on SDT and Emotional Design for my Design Thesis. Need any feedback on this celestial progression system!
I'm a Design student currently working on my thesis project. I've been researching how traditional gamification (leaderboards/competition) doesn't solve always when applied to intimate habits like journaling.
To solve this, I've developed a "cozy" (I think?) gamification method focused in some research papers I found during my investigation. Instead of points, users "nurture" celestial bodies (galaxies, stars and planets) that react to their emotional and gratitude entries.
It works the following: the universe is reactive, your planets, stars and galaxies evolve based on the sentiment and history of your entries (analyzed by AI if you opt-in). Stars and planets are temporary (1 week minimum to 1 year maximum), which creates a representation of the mental state from cycles instead of a permanent score to maintain. The focus is mostly on personal (or shared) cosmos, not outperforming others.
The app is currently in beta and completely free. I'm looking for feedback specifically on the progression feel, the visual metaphor and the user experience.
(Note: the video is in spanish as I'm still finishing the English translations, but 85-90% of the app is already localized).
Didn't know if I could post this in here, but would love to hear thoughts on the app as it is. I'll drop the link in the comments!
