Restoring Thrifted Dolls Advice!
Hello! I found these two AG dolls at the thrift today for $4 a piece and was so excited to restore them to a better state. I sold my collection of 14 dolls I had growing up slowly over the years. Desperate times, desperate measures… anyways I’ve identified these girls as an early 90s Samantha and a 1995 Girl of Today #3 based on stamps and the outfits they were wearing. Samantha came in a “West Germany” made meet dress and #3 came in the purple top and pants from the 1995 GOT meet outfit which is how I identified her exact year or at least made a fairly educated guess. They’re both stamped pleasant company. After a wipe down with a magic eraser and taming their hair, they’re not looking too bad!
I was wondering if anyone has advice on how to restore Samantha’s chunky curl pattern I see she is seemingly supposed to have. All of the curly or heavy wave haired dolls I had in my collection growing up I could finger curl back to fresh and new. Her hair seems to just want to swoop at the bottom and not hold any curl. I know she doesn’t have tight curls but would like to get her a little more true to her original self if I can.
I may also be interested in purchasing Samantha’s black tights from her original meet outfit and the rest of the pieces for the GOT’s meet outfit as well if anyone has them.
