Hi everyone, I'm currently building my own PC and I've hit a wall. Here’s where I’m at:
I’ve assembled the case, motherboard, CPU, RAM, and PSU. I’ve connected the following:
- 24-pin motherboard power
- CPU power (EPS)
- USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 headers
- Front panel connectors (Power SW, Reset, HDD LED, +/- LED)
When I flip the PSU switch and press the power button, the power supply makes a few dull "thumping" or "clicking" sounds, and that's it. Nothing else happens—the fans don't even spin. After that, it stops responding to the power button entirely until I power cycle it.
What could be causing this? Is it a short circuit, a faulty PSU, or did I miss something obvious? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone,
I recently bought a used EVGA Supernova power supply, but it didn't come with the original 6-pin to 4x SATA cable. I live in a region where ordering original EVGA replacement parts is very difficult and expensive.
I'm looking for a cheaper alternative, but I'm worried about compatibility. Can I use a generic or third-party 6-pin SATA cable? I've heard that pinouts can differ between brands and even models, and I don't want to fry my SSDs or the whole PC.
Are there any safe "budget" workarounds, or is it strictly "original cables only"?
Thanks for the help!
