I've never played piano outside of probably banging on a toy piano as a kid. I've been visiting my sister's house quite a lot recently, and only now decided to plug up my nephew's piano and try out some stuff I found on YouTube. Even knowing just 10 seconds of the Final Fantasy VII main theme is an amazing feeling. I would like to practice on his more just to be sure I'd like to buy my own, but if that does happen, I want to make sure it's going to last me quite some time despite being a "beginner" kind of piano.
I've been recommended the P-155 by a friend and it sounds nice, judging by a demo on YouTube. I have a few questions.
- Can this thing hook into VSTs, if I want to do something like simulate a Rhodes sound as one example?
- Can it split voices across the keyboard? I've glanced at multiple covers of this song and all of them, other than this one, sound wrong because it's straight up piano instead of the addition of that uh... chorus/synth/whatever effect is called. I'm pretty confident if I don't have this capability in a piano, I will grow unsatisfied sooner rather than later.
- Anything else I should know or be aware of on the tech-end of things? As far as I can tell, this piano has weighted keys or something near it, so that's good. (though I still don't know what weighted keys actually feel like, I need to go into a music shop and test one out)
ALSO IF YOU CAN THINK OF ANOTHER FAIRLY AFFORDABLE PIANO THAT WOULD SUIT ME AND ALLOWS FOR VSTS/VOICE SPLITTING, PLEASE LET ME KNOW
