Chuck-will's-widow
I have never heard of this bird before but it's my bird of the day on Merlin. I live in Louisiana. I used to hear whip-poor-wills as a kid, but after moving to New England at twenty and then coming back years later, there are a lot of birds I haven't heard. Dunno why they disappeared in the time I was gone. I used to see red winged black birds all the time, bob whites, many different hawks, buntings (I think they were called), and more. But I haven't heard them in the years I've been back to Louisiana.
Main question is, anyone near or in Louisiana ever see this bird? Or hear it's song? If so, what type of places did you find it in? I'd love to find one. I know what the write ups say, but i'd like to know from someone who has seen one because most often I see birds at the time and place totally different from the write ups lol
