just wanted to share a little update, it’s officially been a year with my two maine coons, willy and lendy.

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about people nearly rehoming their cat recently so I wanted to share my story too. i used to think having cats just wasn’t in the cards for me. i’ve always had mild allergies, and every time i was around cats it was the usual sneezing, itchy eyes, that heavy feeling in your chest. nothing extreme, but enough that my family kept telling me “maybe cats just aren’t for you”

but i’ve always loved them, especially maine coons, so i kind of just… went for it anyway

the first few weeks were really rough. they’re fluffy and shed a ton, and suddenly their fur was everywhere, my bed, the couch, my clothes. my parents would keep pointing it out too, like “this is exactly what we were worried about.” i love them so much, but it’s true, sometimes too much love can feel overwhelming. my allergies were definitely there, and there were moments i genuinely wondered if they were right

but at the same time, they settled in so naturally. willy is super clingy, always following me around, and lendy is more chill but likes being close. they made my space feel warm in a way i didn’t expect. even on the days i was sneezing, i still didn’t want a life without them

so i started figuring things out slowly. air purifier running most of the time, cleaning a bit more often, being mindful about where they hang out. nothing extreme, just staying consistent

at some point i added pacagen spray and purinas special cat food into the mix just to see if it would help. no expectations just trying out things but after using it regularly i noticed things felt much better overall. the spray's smell was a little off at first, i’ll be honest, but i stuck with it since it was actually helping and that's what matters for me at that point

so i started figuring things out slowly. air purifier running most of the time, and being mindful about where they hang out. nothing extreme, just staying consistent

a year in, it finally feels balanced. my allergies are still there, but they’re super manageable now, not something that controls my day

i went from thinking i could never have cats to having two fluffy ones taking over my home, and i wouldn’t trade it for anything. if you’re dealing with mild allergies and thinking about it, it’s not always easy, but it can be doable with the right setup and a bit of patience!!

Anyways here’s a picture of my cats
