I bought a shirt on Depop on April 26, and the seller messaged me to say she had shipped it, but Depop still showed “awaiting shipment.” At first, I gave her the benefit of the doubt because she kept apologizing and saying it was her first time using Depop which I totally understand because I'm also new to Depop. She also said another order of hers was updated while mine wasn’t, and that maybe the packages got separated or the post office messed something up.
I asked for the tracking number and eventually checked it through USPS myself after filing a dispute. USPS clearly says that only a shipping label was created and that USPS never actually received the package.
Now she’s saying she thinks it “got lost in the post office,” but I’m confused: if USPS never scanned the item into possession at all, wouldn’t that usually mean it was never dropped off in the first place?
I honestly don’t want to hate on this seller or send people after her. She was communicative and polite the entire time, which is why I’m conflicted. At the same time, I’m disappointed because this could’ve been avoided if she had watched tutorials or learned how shipping on Depop works before selling items.
I filed a dispute because I just wanted buyer protection in case the package was never actually shipped. I’m curious what you guys think.
I just want honest opinions because I feel bad accusing someone, but the tracking info makes the situation look really suspicious.
