Profession Shuffle
Ok so i saw a post a few days ago where someone was talking about enchanting materials and was wondering about the prices of large prismatics and why people dont try to shuffle for them. So i attempted the math also factoring in crafting time to see how it would stack up gph wise. I may have made a mistake or 3 somewhere but here we go. I choose to look at arcanoweave bracers because its the only recipe i have that seems like the most realistic profit.
Arcanoweave Bracers: 6 bolts of netherweave (36 neatherweave cloth) + 12 arcane dust + 2 runed thread
For the cost of materials i rounded up the market value so .14g for netherweave cloth x1 and .89g for arcane dust x 1 and .40g for x1 runed thread (exalted discount)
Total to craft 1 would be 16.52g and crafting time would be 36 seconds (18s to make the bolts and 15s to craft the bracers, 3s to disenchant)
Assuming you can sell the shards for 19g, you would net 18.05g after the ah cut.
Sale minus the crafting cost
18.05-16.52=1.53g profit
So you made 1.53g for 36 seconds of work.
1.53g/36 seconds =0.0425g/ second
0.0425gx60 seconds=2.55g/minute
2.55gx60 minutes=153g/hour
Also i didnt calculate the time it would take to buy all the materials, store them and then post the shards on the ah which would certainly lower the gph by a noticeable amount. I also didnt factor in how long it would take for the auctions to sell which could be a significant amount of time depending on the day. If you spent exactly 1 hour crafting nonstop you could craft and disenchant exactly 100 bracers which would require 3600 pieces of netherweave cloth, 1200 arcane dust and 200 runed thread costing around 1652 gold. The amount of materials would be a logistics issue as well because you would need 240 slots for the cloth and dust alone. You could make use of the mail and bank space but again this will factor into the gph. Maybe it goes down to 120-130? Many farms could do way better than this and in my opinion this isn't worth the hassle and probably why not many do it. It would only really start making sense if shards go to 20+ gold I think. Please let me know if I made any mistakes.
