I’m so happy with myself with my progress sa running (running journey)
Hehe for context im 5’4 male, sa summer 2025 I started my journey, I was 85kg at 5’4 so I decided to google my bmi and found out I was obese (yes ik bmi with just weight height is inaccurate but it is pretty reliable if you are not physical fit), I was shocked, I honestly thought na I was just overweight because my body type looks like yung tito na tambay weight haha, was shocked that that was already obese, grabi noh, because medjo normal na tingnan yung ganyan na body is you’ll perceive it as overweight lang, when in fact obese na pala.
So that’s when I started my journey, at first I was lost, just running with max effort, then getting burnt out not even a kilometer in. Continued running for a few more months, improved, and actually dropped my weight to 68-69~ in 4-5 months.
Then I had problems with my personal life and coped with stress eating, I gained all that weight back and more.
By March I looked at myself in the mirror and thought to myself na Im really losing it, my discipline, exercise, everything, I was 90kg. I decided to get back into it on March 17
I did a 3k just 13 pace, was shocked that it was soo much harder, my legs burned, my lungs suffered, my heartbeat soared. But I didn’t let that break my morale, instead I made it into motivation, I wanted to run without my legs burning, lungs suffering, and heartbeat soaring.
So I continued until now, multiple changes of training programs using chatgpt to cater to my needs and researching running tips like proper form, breathing, types of runs, etc.
And now after 56 days
I reached 80kg, and today I just did a 7k z2 run at 12min pace 😄😄, Ik it’s slow but for me, I’ve progressed so much, from my first run being a 13 pace 3k at z3 bpm and now.
I plan to stay consistent and get back to a healthier weight, 65kg - 70kg.
Btw my current running plan is
M - Easy Run 30-45min
T - Intervals 5-6 x 1min sprint z4
W - Easy + Light upper (just pushups, and rows)
Th - Tempo Run 20-30min Z3
F - Lower body (Just basic squats, lunges, calf raises)
St - Rest / Recov Walk
Sn - Long Run - 90-120min
And it’s working really good, it doesn’t overwork me and fits my needs pretty well, I felt the need to add workouts in my program to compensate for my heavy weight because I noticed when I ran z2 my muscles gave up before my lungs or heart.
