YAKYAKISTAN BEST
I geniunely welled up reading this.
From the funny descriptions in the tech tree, the drama of clan management, the civil war, and reintegrating everyone who fought against me, getting this just put a lump in my throat.
10 out of 10.
Well this looks more involved than I thought it was going to be.
My little Buffalo's
So I just finished a couple games as the Buffalo Chiefdom, where I had an absolute blast watching everything as it unfolded.
You start off as Chief Thunderhooves, a very grumpy looking Buffalo who's idea of governance is do nothing and see what happens, which makes no one happy, especially when Equestria is doing it's best to make you learn of their peaceful ways by force.
So first part of the Focus Tree is let's have a Buffalo meetup and decide who should lead us. I decided to say "Down with the Ponies!" and elected the Elder, who wants our ancestral lands back.
Now I know what you're thinking, how does a nation with no technology, capable of only six divisions, with very few factories, take on the might of Equestria with just weaponised pies? Well, you don't because it's suicide, what you can do however is steal states from them, as long as they're not garrisoning the border, because one tank division will beat six of yours, so make sure you turn those weaponised pies into anti-tank.
In the end, I stole the three states off Equestria, built some more factories and had twelve divisions ready to fight back for our lands, that was until the Great War happened, which opens up a part of the focus tree, do you proclaim the Buffalo Empire or do you bow to Queen Chrysalis?
I bowed.
And it did not go well.
At first I was sure Equestria was doomed, but then those dastardly Marksists from Stalliongrad got involved and two years later I was abandoned by the Changelings to fight to the death with only five divisions left.
So I reloaded and became the Buffalo Empire, and bided my time until the Great War was being fought in the Changeling lands and then that's when I attacked. By the time I got to Las Pegasus, I was being beaten back, and I knew I gambled and lost, that was until I got an event saying I'd reconquered the lost lands and I was asked if I wanted to make peace or keep going.
I didn't need to think about it, straight after the Great War finished Equestria parked a hundred divisions on our border, and I was just glad to get as far as I did.
The next game was going to be the opposite, let's become strong through the power of friendship!
This time we elected Thunderhooves daughter, Chieftess Strongheart, we were going to be friends with the Ponies and help Equestria...
By letting them colonise us!?
You can turn to Celestia for help, and eventually you get puppeted, but you essentially play as a state of Equestria for the rest of your Harmonist playthrough.
Let's hope we win the Great War and nothing sinister hap...
...pens like Daybreaker taking over Celestia and trying to annex you.
But wait, maybe we can be saved?
By Communism?
In the end I was annexed by the Equestrian Republic, I like to think Chieftess Strongheart wasn't told to face the wall, and the Buffalo weren't completely colonised, I observed long enough to see Stalliongrad start a war with the Republic, but I thought it was about time to start my own foray into Communism.
With the very adorable Gentle Giant. Communism in the Buffalo State starts right after you are colonised by those greedy Ponies, and their Focus Path is all about building a better tomorrow for the Buffalo's, and I intended to do that all the way up to Daybreaker taking over again and winning against the Changelings, and then deciding to go straight to war with Stalliongrad who started winning against her with all the North at their back.
In the end Gentle Giant wasn't as Gentle as everyone thought he was.
