Buying clothes at different ages
Buying pants at 16: “But Maaaaa! EVERYONE is wearing these!”
Buying pants at 66: “These pants are so comfortable and stretchy, I can take naps and do yoga in these. I’ll take them.”

I was still using a Dustbuster in 2015 because it’s a convenient thing to have. (Especially when you have pets.) In fact, I upgraded to a newer model about 3 years ago. And I didn’t get it at an antique store. I bought it at Walmart.
Or was it simply a case of, in the 2015 of Back to the Future, everyone was using super high tech, futuristic versions of the Dustbuster to clean up their little spills, but here’s the original model that’s so old, it’s really a museum piece? Just like what we do with computers now?
So over on Facebook, someone posted something about SPAM, both the canned meat and the email spam, and mentioned that the original SPAM became popular during WWII, presumably because it was a quick source of protein. It reminded me of how SPAM was worked into M*A*S*H episodes. My favorite name drop comes in “None Like It Hot”, in which Potter orders Hawkeye and BJ to get rid of their canvas bathtub. They finally trade it to someone for ice cream for Radar, and as the guy is driving away, he says, “Last war, I could have talked you down to a can of SPAM.” There’s a beat, and then Hawkeye yells out, “And a can of SPAM!” And my favorite appearance of SPAM comes in “Private Charles Lamb”, in which Radar sends the lamb that was supposed to be the Easter entree home to Iowa to be his baby brother, and Hawkeye and Trapper create a new Easter lamb - out of SPAM.
I’ve never eaten SPAM and don’t want to. Anyone here have personal experience with SPAM?
