Noob here. I have this encounter I kinda struggle with, and out of curiosity would like to ask you how would you go on to handle the battle to get the best outcome.
My LL ended her turn near the capital of a faction. Their leader attacks me with smaller initial army, however garrison reinforcements are on their way to join her forces, overwhelming mine by x1.6.
- Game battle is on HARD.
- AI autoresolve expects a CLOSE VICTORY.
- The enemy reinforcements arrive in 2 minutes after the battle starts, outnumbering my army by x1.6
- The enemy waits on the other side for the reinforcements, before advancing at me. My melees wont reach the initial army before the arrival of the reinforcements.
- So far the best result I obtained was a PYRRHIC VICTORY with 1 unit lost. Did that charging my high speed units (Valkia, cavalry and hounds) on their Lord and killing her, plus some shooting units as much as possible. Then fall back when reinforcements arrive, regroup with my arriving melee force, and tackle the army head to head.
- I have tried other strategies, such as hiding in trees, try to pull some chunks of armies with my high speed units to the forests and ambush them there. So far it did not work well as the AI did send chasing my units with its own high speed ones, which made ambushing difficult.
I guess my attempts would sound funny to more experienced players. But I am no RTS expert, so I do what a noob gotta do.
