If someone used the > quote funtion and manually typed something out like this, could it be a "misunderstanding"?
Someone did this to me. I wrote a post and I know what I wrote.
This guy used the quote funtion and typed something out like this in the Comments.
>blablablablabla
You're lying.
I know what they wrote in the quote was neither true nor was it in my post.
Im absolutely sure he has some sort of grudge. I replied that hes dumb because my post doesnt say that anywhere.
And another person told me I'm rude and that there's no reason to be rude over a misunderstanding.
Is there any site where I can find the entire dialogue of movies in french?
I want to watch Disney movies and then search the words they say. One problem is that the subtitles don't ever match exactly what they say.
The characters will say something like
"J'aime le fromage sur la lune mais je suis en colère"
But the subtitles will say some like
"Le fromage sur la lune me plaît, pourtant je suis fâché."
So annoying. My phone has automatic subtitles, but there's two problems. 1 They arent perfect either but they are much more accurate. And 2, when i pause the video, the subtitles disappear, so i either have to type the word out as fast as a i can or write it down without pausing.
Does it make me a bad person to think to myself "...this person sucks at language learning"?
Ok so I've had this line of thought a few times but I just keep it to myself. I come across people saying they really want to learn a language.
I legitimately try to get somewhere with them, and it's impossible.
"Want to practice in audios?" No...
"want to do a call? I can speak to you in your native language and teach you words in your Targe Lang..." "No." Everything no.
Others are like "yes of course but not right, maybe tomorrow." I message them the next day and I never hear from them again. then they either delete their account or are never online ever again.
Sometimes I even befriend people, we talk for months on end in their native language. They never ask for help in their TL, but they still express their frustration that they are getting nowhere. I see them virtually every day socializing in the "language learning" chat rooms, but all they do is talk in their own native language with other who have the same nature language.
I know this sounds pretentious and im sorry.
Every single person on language exchange apps.
I think learning languages broke me.
I have been learning languages for several years, and I think i've noticed that i've started behaving differently recently.
I was raised bilingual. Im now 30 and i've been learning another 2 languages Since I was like 17.
Over the past ten months or so I got really really deep into immersing myself in my fourth language and suddenly I felt really withdrawn. I've also caught myself making mistakes in my own native language that are embarrassing. And ive noticed that language exhange apps have greatly declined in quality. Every time I feel like i have to strain myself to find people to practice with.
I feel like I'm struggling to speak at all now, all 4 languages. Maybe it was something else idk...
Why are people on this sub so hostile to westerners?
I have noticed that when me or another westerner comes on this sub asking a fair question, everyone is so eager to start dropping nasty condescending comments. I've had it happen several times.
I have a latin american friend and I asked him to come on this sub and ask the exact same question several months after I did. Just because the flair was latin american, the comments were much nicer. I didn't see anyone poking fun or putting down, even though the post was exactly the same.
My post had a 64% upvote ratio. His had a 98%
Do LaTams like and accept their demonyms?
I have noticed that if you call someone a rola or a carioca or a chilango...
Some people responde like "yeah it's am" or "fk yeah i am."
But others are like "ummhhh yeah I guess..."
