Hey Lara, Microagressisions are what lead to low self esteem
People constantly implying that you're not as smart as them does impact the self esteem of young black people. This whole thing is a small example of it. How does someone who sings music like Gnarly fix their mouth to say RnB lacks structure. It's not a damn compliment, it's not some great take on freedom or creativity either. Great artists in the genre are not just making great music based on vibes and feelings, they use their brains. It takes intelligence and there are rules behind it.
No minority group's art should be treated like "just vibes". It's always racist, different doesn't mean "loose" or less refined.
It's pissing me off and all of her fans defending her are defending her by saying "She's right, it's not like THEY read off sheet music" . They need to downplay and undermine a whole musical genre just so this basic whitewashed girl doesn't look bad.
I bet money this will be the one thing she keeps quiet about.
