Do you guys recommend buying a G.M ( Delco ) oil cooler?

About a week since my last post talking about the fact that I think I will be needing a new oil cooler for my 2012 Sonic. I try to do some things on my Sonic when it comes to changing fluids and other things like plugs, but for the oil cooler, I will be letting a local family run garage do that for me.

I feel they are honest with fair prices, they are a Mennonite family so maybe that helps with their moral compass.

So with all of that said, if I do need a new oil cooler, do you guys recommend using an OEM cooler from G.M, or a better after market one? I like to save money as much as the next guy, but when it come to buying parts for my cars, I trying to buy the best that I can afford, and I trying buying something that's made in the USA. Also, do you recommend changing out the oil cooler inlet pipe as well? And with the G.M branded cooler, are the gaskets of good quality?

Thanks guys ( and gals )

A question: After being on these great Chevy Sonic groups and reading about the Sonic's famous coolant issue's, the 2nd issue that most owners seem to come across would be the oil coolers going out.

I think at 94,000 miles, my own 1.8 engine Sonic might be starting to show signs of oil cooler failure.

My question is: Why does the Sonic's oil cooler go out even at fairly low miles, while other cars never ever have any issues with oil coolers? Is it the fact that our cars run so hot, is it the quality of the oil cooler itself, or is it just plain bad luck?

Thanks and I look forward to reading your comments folks.
