Newly diagnosed.

Hello everyone. I am a new type 1 diabetic diagnosed only 20 days ago.i wanna ask few things hope I will get guidance and suggestions from you guys ( I am sorry for any mistakes english is my second language).

I was diagnosed at age 25 and to start with I am from south Asian country and I was dating a girl since 2 years and we were thinking of getting married but her parents told that she shouldn't get married with me as I have very low life expectancy now as I got this chronic disease this young. I hope that isn't true.

Now to the real question in hospital both nurse and doctors told me that t1d is very complex and will impact me a lot, they were giving me warnings about how it will affect my organs and all. Well I didn't listen to them and got a new endo and he is very supportive and told me to learn basics first like what food affects my bs the most, which exercise increases and decreases my bs and all.

Also I was a very optimistic person and I thought I can overcome this challenge but I don't think I can now seeing all the negativity. Am I over simplifying or what ? My other health markers like BP cholesterol are good as well. I heard someone was telling that t1d can't live into old age ? Is that true? I am in process of getting my cgm soon. I don't want to live in 70s-80s anyway. But I want to fulfil few of my dreams. Should I stay as saddist? Or stay with positive mindset? Were those doctors and nurses true ? I know they might be if I don't take care.

Hope you guys will provide me good responses. Thank you.
