Hi all. I applied for and accepted a job towards the end of 2025 for a retail supervisor position that would transition into an assistant manager role when one of the two current managers retires.
Over the months I have been vocal about wanting training to make the transition smoother but have been told repeatedly “soon.” It’s now 6 weeks until she retires and I asked if my new duties have been decided and if I’m going to be getting a pay bump for this new role. I was told no and that my role wouldn’t change but I would be getting more responsibility. This has come out of nowhere.
It’s in writing that I was offered the job of assistant manager and I wouldn’t have accepted if that was not the case. What can I do?
TLDR; I was offered the role of supervisor that would transition into assistant manager. I’ve now been told that wont be the case.
