We have a 12 year old Samsung dryer that quit working last night. Just a click sound when trying to start. I quickly learned that the thermal fuse was a likely culprit, so ordered one last night for delivery today. Sliced my fingers a couple times getting the thing apart, but replaced the fuse and did a deep clean (removed a LOT of caked on filth), put everything back together, and it fired right up. But it immediately smelled like burning dust. My instinct is that it's just now-loosened lint/dust burning off and that it'll be fine, but I shut it off after a few seconds and wanted to get a second opinion before I let it run a full cycle unsupervised.
