In most audio-visual media, it is not uncommon to find the term "fireworks show" as a critique of a work that has plenty of style, yet lacking substance.
A commonly referenced story is Demon Slayer. Although many consider it 'mid', it is undeniable that the visuals brought it to a higher degree never seen before in the industry.
With that in mind, what is closest thing one can achieve similarly in literature? Perhaps a story of great prose, but lackluster narrative? What work comes to mind?
