Cleaned up pretty nice

A dremel, dental pick and apple cider vinegar did their jobs. I nicked the one side with the dremel but overall pretty happy with the result.

Can an adjustor lie to you? Is there a way to report this?

Some of you may have seen my post from a few weeks ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/Insurance/comments/1ssa64z/hit_by_a_possibly_uninsured_driver_now_down_a/

As a recap:

  1. A driver hit our car and we filed a same day claim with their American Family Insurance agent. All verbal correspondence with the AFI adjustor has been on a recorded line on their end
  2. We were told by the AFI adjustor, per speaking with the individual listed on the insurance card, the named insured had not seen the at fault driver or that vehicle for over a year and sold it to a relative and that the at fault driver was not authorized to be driving and was not insured through them. The at fault driver also said they were not driving the vehicle, which is false
  3. AFI adjustor also said the at fault driver was not returning calls and was also not responding to written letters. AFI said if they cannot get cooperation from the original insured, at fault driver or relative who the vehicle was sold to the claim will be denied
  4. AFI adjustor told us they do not have the ability to see people's driver license information, vehicle titles, registration and ownership records through any of their systems

New information as of today:

  1. Proceeded to file claim through my insurer, State Farm. SF called me today and while I was on the phone with them they were able to identify all vehicle, registration and license information for both the at fault driver and the named insured based on information I provided. SF also confirmed named insured had an active AFI policy for that vehicle at the time of accident and named insured was registered owner. SF also forwarded the police report I filed to AFI and spoke to that adjustor, reading the police report to them and getting verbal confirmation from AFI that they would accept 100% liability now. AFI told SF the reason they were going to deny the claim was the at fault driver said it was us who hit them
  2. I called AFI after the conversation with SF to follow up on this as we haven't heard anything from them for weeks. AFI gave me the run around and they hadn't had time to review the police report and their decision was pending

So we have several lies told to us on a recorded line by the AFI adjustor:

  1. Named insured did not have an active AFI policy on that vehicle at the tie of accident, which they did

  2. AFI received a false statement from at fault driver despite telling us they couldn't make contact

  3. AFI could in actually look up all relevant vehicle and driver information despite telling us otherwise

This is unethical at worst, laziness and ineptitude at best. Is my best option to report this to AFI's ethics line?

Alternative to vinegar?

What’s another tried and true method that’s less abrasive than white or apple cider vinegar? I’ve read hydrogen peroxide is an option. I got these on my first ever fossil dive in Venice last week so I’d prefer not to destroy them 😂
