Was I in the wrong?
Waddup fellow cyclists. I've recently started Uber Eats on my E-Bike and working on getting accustomed to driving on the road. I've been pretty scared to get back on the road after an incident. I was riding on the far left side of the lane as usual and there was an intersection on the left side where a car was waiting to get onto the main road so I was waiting for the car to pass but the car behind me wanted to go into the intersection.
Then the car behind me started honking like crazy and I started to panic so I just moved onto the sidewalk and he started yelling insults at me then left. Ever since I've been scared to use my E-Bike and get back to the road. Ever since I've been unsure on if I did something wrong or if I should've gone in the center of the lane in that context. If anyone has any advice I would sincerely appreciate it. Thank you.
I'm sorry if that was a clear and obvious mistake I'm still learning to ride on my E-Bike.
This took place on Merrylands road.
Edit: Honestly I expected to be bashed for my mistake but I sincerely appreciate how lots of you have been kindly explaining my wrongs and what I should've done. Thank you so much to all of you I sincerely appreciate it. I messed up and put myself in danger and should've been more weary of my surroundings. I'll be taking more time learning bicycle laws. Thank you everyone.
