Due to deliver and so many questions !
I’m 38f pregnant 35w with di/di twins. At the last doc appointment 10 days ago, I was told to not leave the house anymore and was also given Nifedipine since I was feeling a lot of pressure in my lower abdomen. My cervix length was 2.5 cms and the doc said it’s shortening fast now so labour can start anytime. The babies were measuring at 1.6 kgs and 1.9 kgs.
I have a scan on the 14th of May and if all goes well then a scheduled c-section on the 15th of May.
Both babies are head down. There is technically no need to go in for a c section but this is what we are opting for because my doctor is traveling for 3 weeks from the 17th of May. He has a lot of experience with multiples and I (ideally) do not want to change my doctor.
This morning I woke up with period-like cramps but just on the left lower abdomen, backache but just left side and thigh pain on the left leg. It felt just like it does before you’re about to get your period.
I’ve also been pooping and clearing my stomach better than before since a week. Bowel movements are once a day.
Once I got out of bed , I was fine.
So my questions are :
- Is it worth waiting for labour to start and go with another doctor? This way I can maybe carry the babies a week or 10 days longer.
- Are these aches and pains early labour signs?
- Even if the babies have gained 150 grams in 2 weeks, are the babies too small to deliver?
- What are the chances of NICU stay ?
I’m trying not to think too much about the c section and what’s to follow in terms of mobility and pain. I’m worried if we are taking the right decision by delivering the twins earlier than maybe required.
