I have a 000-18 modern deluxe, a CEO-7, and OM-28V, each full a niche I like but I’m looking for a rosewood dread. It could potentially replace my OM28V.
I am looking for a cannon. I wand something loud, resonant, more bass, but still articulate. I wand a full strummer for folk stuff, but I also want to get more into bluegrass. I previously had a D-18 that just didn’t do it for me.
I’m leaning HD-28 for the scalloped bracing, but the new D28 with that bracing could also work. I like the herringbone but don’t really care about the appointments.
I really like the V neck carve but it’s not a deal breaker, I prefer chunkier necks in general though.
I’m looking on the used market, so my ability to try them is limited. I can probably find the newer HD28 and D28 at a shop with a bit of a drive, but no way I can find a V to try.
Any suggestions on the direction to take? Obviously trying them myself is the best option, but looking for personal opinions.
