Grüß Gott Leude,
I am a Drittstaatsangehöriger living in Germany on a Blue Card EU.
I was recently in Austria, and was completely moved by its beauty and its laid back, relaxed culture and also the friendliness. As you all know Germany under SPD and CDU are putting 100% effort in making Germany unattractive for workers, and directly boosting AfD's chances of victory in my current state, I asked myself why not live in a more beautiful region if politics around the world is going to be shit anyway. I'd describe myself as well integrated, speak C1 Standard German (the Germany version) with almost no accent. I currently live quite cheaply in a former east German city, the total rent makes only 10% of my net income (Edit: I understand that this isn't possible in Austria, but let's compare Bavaria and Baden Württemberg where it gets to 40-50% because I'll have to move there if not Austria). My gf is an ethnic South-German, and we do plan on having a family, but she doesn't like the idea of moving to Austria (Her culture and dialect is more similar to Austrian regions than North/East Germany. But she is still reserved about moving to Austria. Why?).
Please suggest me Alpine cities/towns in Austria that have ample IT jobs, but where the rent is as cheap as possible. I was actually thinking about Carinthian towns like Feldkirchen, St Veit an der Glan, Spittal an der Drau. Train or Bus Connections with commute less than 40 minutes to the major cities are bonus. I also thought about Murtal valley, but do make more suggestions, if you have any. If remote IT jobs are common in Austria then I'd also not have an issue living in deep alpine rural regions that are almost an hour away from the next important city.
PS: I'm planning to move after about 5-6 years, so hopefully the Arbeitsmarkt will have recovered. Furthermore, I'm not competing against natives for high paying jobs. In fact I am a specialist of a rare subject. And worse case I'll become a Math and IT teacher. So I'm quite flexible when it comes to jobs as long as I'm in the middle class.
