I don't know if this is an issue in other countries, but in my highschool life in the Philippines I observe it quite often.

Most students with high honors are female, most class officers are female, most student council members are female, most group leaders are female, and it's mostly girls who have the capability to answer questions when randomly called on by the teacher.

I notice that it's mostly girls who have a sense of responsibility when it comes to their academics. Sure boys want to pass too, but they mostly do it in a "I'll just get by" way. They aren't as passionate about it as the girls are.

What males are mostly appreciated for in my highschool was their sense of humor that lights up the classroom, the "boys at the back" as most famously called. My school also put an emphasis on athleticism in order to compete with other highschools and universities, which of course the boys do excellent in.

This is just something I've noticed, what are your thoughts?
