Tip from a new sock knitter
When using variagated or striped yarn for socks, take the time to line up your colors. It's really worth the effort to have the same pattern of stripes in both socks. The first pair I made that didn't line up (because I didn't know better) still drive me crazy. Yes, you will throw away a bit of yarn, but overall it's still worth it. And you are not going to run out of yarn, or you shouldn't. I still have plenty leftover from that skein. I started with the green/yellow/orange (before the red, top down sock), and placed my slipknot at 25", thus I was able to recreate the pattern on the second sock.
Also, this is a terrific pattern to learn how to do cables because there is only one cable on each sock. That limits the confusion.
BTW, these are my 7th pair of socks, and I am completely addicted.
Pattern: JoMo sock on Ravelry from TwinsetAndPurl. Yarn is Cascade Heritage Prints Sock yarn, colorway Crayons.
