My buddy has been 09U for the two years out of his 3 year contract. Isn’t there a regulation that requires him to be qualified by 24 months or a separation could be initiated? He’s not reenlisting but would a separation hurt his chances of trying to enlist into another branch? also, he’s been considering active navy and thinking about requesting a conditional release but would not being mosq prevent him from doing so?

Been in for 2 years on a three year contract and have yet to get MOSQ(11b). I’m coming from Marines so I didn’t have to do the whole basic to AIT thing but didn’t have an mos that crossed over. Despite not knowing anything infantry, I’ve done everything my unit has done including field weeks and even NTC. NTC was quite the experience considering I’m coming from a maintenance background and then being thrown into an infantry environment without knowing much of anything. I came in extremely motivated but now I’m just excited to leave. I’m considering submitting a conditional release for the Active Navy(Im having trouble making ends meet and my wife is pregnant with our second child) but not sure what the process would be since I’m both less than a year out from ETS as well as non MOSQ. We recently had a change of command and not sure if they’re tracking with my MOSQ situation. AT is near the end of this month and I was considering on reminding them since last I checked you have to be MOSQ to participate in AT

To sum up: I’m still non MOSQ after two years with my ETS coming up in less than a year. Would it be worth submitting a conditional release? Lastly with AT should I remind them again that I’m Non MOSQ or try and lay low and wait out my contract?

Thanks!
