40% rent hike with 60 days notice feeling trapped and unsure of options

i've been renting this place for 4 years, consistently paying on time. i've had no issues with the landlord or the property. however, just got a notice that my rent is being increased by 40% effective in 60 days. the new amount would be over $400 more than i can comfortably afford.

the thing is, renting has become extremely expensive where i live. with the increase, i'd have to either take on a second job just to make ends meet or cut back drastically on other living expenses. to make matters worse, i've got moving costs that i don't have the savings for yet.

i'm trying to figure out my options am i stuck here? can anyone provide some insight into what i can do in this situation?

edit i should add that i've already looked into finding a new place to rent, but it's tough with such short notice. any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated

the unspoken expectation of female symptoms

i recently went to my doctor with a list of symptoms i've been experiencing for months, but what struck me was the implicit expectation that men can just "tough it out" when they're feeling unwell. as a woman, i'm expected to be more proactive about tracking my health and finding solutions on my own.

i've had pain and fatigue for over a year, but every time i've brought it up with my doctor, she's dismissed me or told me i need to "stress less." it wasn't until i wrote down everything including dates and specifics of what i'm experiencing that she finally took me seriously and ordered tests.

it's exhausting being expected to be the one who takes charge of your own health. can we change the narrative? can women not just be told to "manage our stress" or "find a new job if they're not happy"?

we were sitting on the couch, and she was telling me about her favorite childhood activity watching paint dry. i thought it was gonna be a snooze fest, but it ended up being really therapeutic. she pointed out all the different stages of drying, from tacky to matte, and even shared some funny stories about trying to predict when it'd be done. now my grandma's on my mind, and i'm feeling grateful for those quiet moments with her
