Going Whoop-only: what do you do for time during the day?
I've been on Whoop for a few months and the recovery/sleep side has genuinely changed how I train. The one thing I keep tripping on, though, is the time. I work out on my lunch break and during sets I keep instinctively looking at my wrist, getting nothing, then having to dig out my phone - at which point the whole "no distractions" promise kind of evaporates because now I'm in iMessage.
Before I commit to renewing, I want to figure out how the rest of you actually solve this.
A few specific things I'd love to hear:
- Do you wear a second watch (analog, Garmin, Apple Watch on the other wrist, pocket watch, whatever)? If so, doesn't that feel kind of defeating?
- Did the "no time on wrist" thing bother you at first and then go away, or is it still a small daily friction?
- Has anyone tried the watch-dial-on-the-strap hack people mention? Does it actually look okay?
- If Whoop sold an optional strap with literally just a tiny time readout (no notifications, no smartwatch stuff — just time + maybe battery), would you buy it? At what price?
Not trying to bash Whoop — the screen less thing is genuinely why I picked it over Apple Watch. I just want to figure out whether I'm the weird one for missing the time or whether there's a real subset of us doing weird workarounds.
