So I have hashimoto's and get flare ups (as we all do) due to stress, sickness, I blink funny, etc.. My levels are normal for the most part but I do get flare-ups. My partner asked a couple questions and other than "nuh uh" and "because that's dumb" I don't have answers. ..because is it dumb? He asked: "If it's autoimmune, why don't they have you on immune suppression?" And "why don't they just take out the thyroid, then your antibodies have nothing to attack."

Can this be explained nicely so my flu-addled brain can understand?
