One week post op with no physical therapy

The day I had surgery I called to schedule pt appointments and they told me they were waiting for authorization from insurance - 7 days later (today) I called and the lady said insurance is requesting more info and I would just have to wait. I don’t get it insurance approved and paid for my surgery completely but they need more info for pt??? I’m nervous I haven’t seen a professional.. I think I’m doing good I went back to school for a full day and am completely off the pain meds only taking 600mg ibuprofen in the morning and before I go to sleep. I’ve been doing ankle pumps and my goal in the first 2 weeks was extend to 0 degrees which I am able to do. I’m just really scared not seeing pt will delay all of this and I am already in emotional shambles going through this. If anyone wants to send me their pt schedule or give any information I would greatly appreciate it

I am recovering!!

I had surgery 4 days ago and things are finally improving although I’m worried I might be pushing things a little much. I’ve finally got the hang of crutches and try to do a few loops around my house each day as well as ankle pumps flexing my quad attempting to straighten my knee and things are going good! Today was the first day I could flex my quad and see it flex and straighten confidently. When is it okay for me to start walking with one crutch? Im going back to school Monday and just want this to all be over but I’m happy I’m recovering faster than I thought. Let me know if you guys have any tips. I still haven’t see a physical therapist so I feel like I’m making good progress on my own (waiting for insurance to approve pt)

I’ve asked so many questions on here but truly I feel so alone. I had surgery on Tuesday ( so day 2 post op) and by Wednesday night my knee was so swollen I had to loosen one of the brace things a little. I’m on a mix of 5/325mg norco and 600mg ibuprofen but it just hurts. It aches and burns. I feel so alone and can’t stop crying. I’m weight baring as tolerated but getting in and out of my bed or walking with crutches hurts so bad. I’m only 18 and I feel geriatric. The only time I’m at peace is asleep but obviously I can’t sleep all day. Is it normal to feel a achey burning/stinging sensation? I feel like I can feel where the incisions are it’s frustrating I can’t see anything to make sure it’s clean but I’m assuming it’s fine and this is just apart of the healing process, please any tips ice doesn’t seem to help as much as I thought can’t even feel it through the ace wrap idk what to do it’s 4am and I’m restless

I had surgery today and pre op the surgeon asked if I had gotten a call from pt yet, nope. He said the order is in and it’s just a matter of time but originally he said I should have pt appointments scheduled for a few days after surgery. Although considering 1 I don’t have anything scheduled yet and 2 it’s just gonna be a massive pain in the ass to get in and out of my house (brace fully locked for the next 15 days and on crutches) I’d rather just to excercies at home. I’ve read online I should be doing ankle pumps and flexing my quad and glutes to maintain strength, is this a good starting point until pt calls me?

Just had surgery. Does the pain everyone talk about the ache I feel? Yes it’s bad but it’s bearable especially with pain meds, increasing as the nerve blocker starts wearing off but it just aches. Idk I was expecting like a really bad pain like walking when I initially hurt myself. Any other tips or helpful things in these early stages is also appreciated.

I’m getting ACL reconstruction surgery from a quad graft on Tuesday and needless to say I’m nervous. I’ve never had surgery before I also live a pretty active lifestyle. I’m a senior in high school and worried about how long I’ll be out of school as well as how comfortable I’ll be able to walk at my graduation in a month. My doctor told me they will give me crutches and I will be allowed to walk immediately after surgery although I might find it uncomfortable. I just feel so lost like when will I be able to drive again?

I was planning on majoring in environmental science but after reviewing the pathways I realized I’d have to calculus and that seems like an extreme headache. Am I able to change my major at dog days orientation or should I email a counselor now?
