Hi everyone, I am finally done with my 4th semester in university (completed my 3rd year) in STEM (Medical sciences)
***here are the metrics I used to build an algorithm which would give me the expected GPA for the courses I took*** and the results will follow
Metrics:
- Organization
- Clear Expectations
- Recommendation Rate (how many people recommend taking the class)
- Rate My Prof Overall Rating (including difficulty and quality of prof)
- Workload
- Fairness of Assessment
- Average Grade
- Most common grade
So I made using AI an algorithm that would take all of this info (from hundreds of previous students from a website for my school that has all of this data) and make it into how difficult the course would be, to quantify everything. It would take too long to list every course, my grade and expected grade (from the algorithm) so I just input the expected GPA, its not meant to be a direct proxy of what I should be getting but a proxy to see where I place consistently within the expectancy.
**the GPA listed is by Term and not cumulative**
- Semester 1 (6 courses 2 stem 1 psych 3 BS classes) : no supplementation at all, barely used Anki. (6 courses) ~3.72/4 GPA. Expected GPA 3.3/4 (from algorithm)
- Semester 2 (4 courses 2 stem 1 psych 1 bs class) : no supplementation at all, Used Anki a bit but would only study for courses 2 weeks pre exam ~3.8 GPA Expected GPA 3.07/4 (from algorithm)
important caveat: took 4 classes with only 3 Classes requiring actual studying, so a much easier time studying than with the normal class load.
- Semester 3 (5 courses 3 stem 2 Psych) : Lions mane daily, Choline before class, rhodiola mid day, Bromantane daily 3 weeks on 1 week off. started tracking my sleep (average sleep score 83 over the whole semester). used Anki for 4 classes (1 class needed 0 studying and had an open book final) and used anki almost every day 4.0/4 GPA Expected GPA 3.0/4
in semester 3 for anki I would make the cards after each class and go over those new cards within the next day or two.
- Semester 4 (5 courses 5 stem ) : Lions mane daily, Choline in the AM, dropped rhodiola, Bromantane 4 weeks on, 1 week off. Tak 653 4 weeks on 1 week off (made sure I would be on it for every important period during the semester). Average sleep score 82. used Anki for 4 classes (1 class needed 0 studying and had an open book midterms (which I bombed lol) but a closed book final) 4.0/4 GPA Expected GPA 3.0/4
In semester 4 for anki I would make sure that I looked over the new cards the same day and would use anki every day to maintain the knowledge.
So main difference between semester 1/2 and 3/4 is the course composition, took much harder classes in 3/4 as we can see by the expected GPA for both, despite this increase in difficulty I got 2 perfect semesters which I believe boil down to 3 factors
- Anki Use: would make flashcards right after class (started semester 3) and would begin studying right away
- Sleep score: stayed consistent with my sleep
- Supplementation: mainly Bromantane (semester 3) and TAK and Bromantane (semester 4).
TAK helped me potentiate the effects of spaced repetition of anki, making me take much less time to memorize the material so I can start practicing application problems of the material.
Bromantane helped me become more motivated and getting up in the morning and getting to studying, also to help me study for much longer without dropping sharpness in cognition.
Finally, I would like to say that this is a post promoting my stack TAK and Bromantane since I believe it is the best budget stack in my opinion. And that nootropics alone will not get you a 4.0 GPA, it will only help you if you put in the necessary work.
