I'm trying to find an animated movie I watched a long time ago, but I only remember one specific scene.

There’s a girl standing by something like a large window, looking out at big turbines or propellers. They seem to be inside some kind of massive airship or dirigible. I think the ground below might have been toxic or uninhabitable, so people were living in the air (or maybe they were just traveling, I’m not completely sure).

Then a boy shows up, they talk briefly, and suddenly the turbines outside the window get destroyed during an attack.

That’s all I can remember. Does anyone know what movie this could be?

I remember watching it on a very, very scratched DVD, and sometimes I get the urge to look for this movie. I don’t remember much about it, but it begins with a campfire in the middle of nowhere. Someone attacks the protagonist, and he kills the stranger. Then the movie goes back a few months, I think.

I remember the protagonist in a bar or something like that. There’s a horse race, and he participates. It seems like he’s losing, but he whispers something to his horse, and it suddenly runs faster and wins. After that, someone from the army forces him to join them along with his horse (you could say it’s set in a similar time period to Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron).

He’s taken to a place similar to where Spirit was taken with his horse. Things happen, and at some point he’s standing in front of native americans, but they spare him. He returns home with his horse, and on the way the opening scene happens.

When he finally arrives, his family is gone. I think his house was either burned down or abandoned. I don’t remember exactly why they left, but I think it had something to do with him leaving in the first place. Then a friend of his arrives and tells him his family left.

So the protagonist releases his horse, and the friend asks why he would let such a fine animal go. The protagonist says something like, “If it is fate that we meet again, then so it will be. Until then, we will go our separate ways.” The movie ends with a scene of the horse running freely while the credits roll.
