Considering Tirzepatide and Confused
My mother (T2D) and my sister (PCOS and morbidly obese) have been on Mounjaro and Zepbound respectively for over a year. It's been a miracle drug for them, to the extent they see me hovering just above obesity threshold in my mid 30s and have encouraged me to try it. They are not body shaming me at all, but just know we share a lot of DNA and I would likely benefit.
I have PCOS and insulin resistance and became obese for the first time in my life after my second was born (he's turning 5 so it's been a minute...). However, I know my insurance (United) almost never covers GLP-1s unless you are actually type 2 diabetic, which I'm not. I'm just at a high risk for it. I live a somewhat active lifestyle but my biggest barrier to weight loss has been stress eating, combined with an overwhelming nausea when I am in a relatively small caloric deficit. Any time I feel close to getting through a day with a calorie deficit I feel so sick I can hardly function and I know that eating alleviates that discomfort so it's very difficult to stay on track.
So I have two main questions.
Are there any price friendly and safe compounded options that will remain available moving forward for a newbie or has the ship sailed? (Just heard about them trying to shut down a bunch?)
Has anyone had similar problems with nausea when staying in a caloric deficit and did it improve on this med?
