The $60 eBay BiEs arrived

Well here they are, the BiE set I got used on eBay for $60 total with tax and shipping included. These Bu's are sooo cute. They all have such cute soup bellies and some of the softest fur I've ever felt. They are in like new shape except for poor luck who has a little purple scar. I think it's permanent marker and will try to remove it tomorrow. Most of them can even stand up too their QC is very good.

I'm so happy, I accepted the risk knowing this might be too good to be true, but it wasn't this time. 6 more new friends!

This Seems a Litte Awkward

Well this is pretty awkward. I hope we can all be one big happy family even though one of us is a little different.

How many of ya'lls little friends have outstretched hands?

Hey guys, how many of you have PFLs with hands that are outstretched from the arm more than they should be? A couple of mine do and I was curious if anyone had solutions. Thanks :D

What do Ya'll think of the Little Amry? 🙀

Ok guys sorry for another post, I will try my best not to be spammy, but I need help.  This is my little army of fuzzies 🤗. As ya’ll know they came from a case that included fakes. We will never know for certain who’s real and who’s not, that’s ok.  These are all the Bubus I believe are real.  I was hoping those of you who know more than me could help clarify what you think based on the images. I don’t expect any of us to be 100% right, just looking to see who notices things I may not.  I don’t want to let my little friends go but I’m not letting my money go to a scam either.  Seller is giving me options and I’d like to keep what seems real and get refunded for the rest.  Everything in my images I think is real and want to know your guys thoughts if you see red flags?  Thanks sooo much guys 💚

It's actually super simple how fakes pass scans

Ok here's another long post before I probably go. Since after all of these fakes I might be leaving the community for a while, I wanted to at least be helpful first. As someone with knowledge in software design, I wanted to clear up the confusion with how fakes pass as real, especially after being scammed myself the other day.

In this comment I want to bring some additional clarity to the false QR verification situation, as I know this confuses so many.  It is not nearly as fascinating or mind boggling as some think, that so many fakes scan legit.  Let’s start by analyzing Pop Mart’s initial internet-based scan system (it has evolved since then, but this is the base framework we must first analyze).  Computerized verification systems like that initial rollout are looking for a specific set of parameters to be met in order to positively pass verification.  Only Pop Mart’s developers would initially know what those parameters were, therefore only their products would pass.  However, with time, others educated in computer verification would be able to start reverse engineering the system, as scammers have.  Likely this is not a set system based on serial number, as it needs to account for products not yet produced.  The old Windows 98 example I used in previous discussions is a good way of explaining things, however the scope of this issue is FAR larger than that ever was.  That system was not an online system, but a local determination based on mathematical values.  I will use each of those as a step in the analogy of Pop Mart’s own early configuration.  In that case, there were a series of instant blocks to prevent piracy.  The first 3 digits could not be 333, 444, 555 and so on.  Pop Mart has a similar set of instant fail variables that at this point scammers have found.  The Pop Mart variables are more complex as any internet based system will be than a local integer system, but they follow the same model.  Further, the Windows system required the last 7 digits of the key to be divisible by 7.  If those last digits formed a number that % 7 == 0, the key auto passed regardless of any other characters, so long as the first 3 weren’t the aforementioned 333, 444, or 555.

The Pop Mart equivalent to this would be product metadata.  This likely includes at least some of what I have listed: production time, retail type (online or in-store), factory location, and so on.  When a scammer has been given enough time, they will find the instant fail values they need to avoid (as Fufu makers clearly have).  From here, all they need to do is create false product metadata that is compatible with the Pop Mart system.  With a basic knowledge of Pop Mart production (some of which can be found in Chinese on the tags of our Bubus), creating false but realistic data is easy. This is how you can end up with fakes that show they have never been scanned before, because they never have.  It is an entirely new code only that fake has, that isn’t stolen from any real product.  It simply the same values any real product would.  It is clear the Pop Mart system was initially parameter based (value met or not met determines pass or fail), as has been verified online.

So we get to the question, hasn’t Pop Mart upgraded their system.  Yes!  The new system is cryptographically signed.  Validation requires multiple tests and passes through private Pop Mart keys.  No Lafufu is passing these but the past damage has already been done.   The latest Labubus send you to this new process, but older Bubus and the fakes all send your device to the old system.  Scammers are still relying on the legacy parameter based system.  An early production Labubu with a QR still needs to pass, therefore the parameter based logic used when it was produced is still present in the system.  This is just like with old American $100 bills being commonly counterfeited.  The new bills are way harder to fake, but since the old bills still exist and count as legal tender, those are the ones that are faked.

Perhaps it is time Pop Mart moves on from hosting the rule-based pass or fail system and drops everything they have produced from being authentication compatible.    At this point that system is useless anyway.  Realistically, as an avid computer user and someone who stays up to date with systems development, this is very easy to grasp and actually the least surprising hurdle we have to get over with Fufus.

LAFUFUed Again (So you don't have to), Am I gonna stick around? 🤔

Ok this will be a long rant so for those of you who want it short: I am not sure I should stick around giving advice or anything after constantly misrepresenting this community and possibly misguiding people, while continuing to get scammed myself over and over.  Only God knows whether my 60+ (who the hell knows now I quit counting lol) Labubus are real.  This will be a post to help out and advise others, but also a bit of a rant if I’m being honest.  I want to thank everyone who brought the fakes to my attention, you guys are awesome! Feel free to try spotting the fake in my photo if you’d like.

Hey guys, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately as this is a very fun community and one I really enjoy, but with the help of many other great community members who have forgotten more than I know about these furry little friends, I have decided I really want to raise awareness of just how common fakes are, and how easy it is to fall for them, and also to take back most of the purchase advice I have provided over time.

The truth is, I’ve fallen for multiple fakes myself (two we know for sure but I still feel like a fool), and I don’t even know how many, for all I know almost all my collection is made up of Fufus.  I don’t want to hate Fufus or say they aren’t included here, but what I know for certain is when I am spending money on a product advertised as authentic, Fufus SURE AS HELL ARE NOT WELCOME no matter how cute or good they look.  I think that’s the policy we all must have when we discuss sellers and places to buy. Today I learned yet another important lesson I wanna share.  Earlier I posted a set of PFLs I was excited I got for $131.  No shock as nearly half of them are Fufus (no idea what I expected).  They came in OEM packaging, with original Pop Mart store tape on top of the shrink wrap. This is the tape on all boxes I get when I physically go to Pop Mart and buy in person.  The only way to get this stuff is to pull it off of actual boxes bought from Pop Mart.

So we move on to the New Generation Scam Tactic:  Opening original Pop Mart box sets, leaving half the real Bubus (well I no longer trust myself with that determination so who knows 🤣), and replacing the other half with Fufus.  Then shrink wrap is put back on the box set, and the red Pop Mart tape is slapped back on.  With this new generation of scam tactics, I refute all my previous advice.  Buying from Pop Mart is the ONLY safe way. I DO NOT CARE if you have a POP MART RECIPT presented to you by a seller, for all you know that seller took the Pop Mart product, removed the authentic merchandise, put a fufu in and re sealed, and are now presenting this receipt as a persuasive tactic.

Me and others had previously said many times that factories won’t go too far out of their way to make Fufus as good or better quality than genuine Bubus, that HAS CHANGED.  They absolutely WILL AND DO.  Positive reviews can easily be botted.  Tests where tags and feet aren’t visible, 5/10 times we might pick the Fufu over the Bubu thinking it has better QC (because it really does).

Fufus these days don’t have glossy faces, awkward proportions, and the wrong eyes.  They have good proportions, perfect faces, legit scanning QRs (we all knew that one), and their sellers have boat loads of positive feedback.

The fake market around Labubu has gotten so convincing that even people who spend a ton of time around them can get confused. I know I’m not the only one, but I also feel like it’s irresponsible for me to keep acting like I can authenticate things for other people when I’ve made the same mistakes repeatedly myself. I have attached a fun little spot the difference photo and I’d love to see which you guys think is the fufu.

As for my involvement, I feel that I should not be on here where people can view me as an “authority” or educated figure on something I’ve realized I don’t know that much about.  I’ve advised a lot of people and they have trusted me, which really scares me, so I’m not sure what my future plans are with the community.  I did post a photo of most of the FAKE PFLs just for fun, yes they may deserve love, but NOT when I spent well over $100 on what should be a genuine product.  As for those telling me to quit ranting and actually go to Pop Mart, you bet!  Spent almost $600 at the Ontario Mills location just last week.  I simply enjoy being able to shop around and find deals.

P.S. There is only ONE real Bubu lurking in any of the photos posted, can you find it (Obv excluding the last photo)??

P.S.S In some of my comments here to others saying they seem real I have provided images of the variation between what should be legit foot stamps, and what the foot stams on the 5 of these that are suspected fake look like. Their tags were also far more dull and hard to read.

PFL Unboxing Time

Well, after 3 days of the box sitting here, I decided to unbox my PFL set I got on eBay for a super good price. I had no plans to get a set of these but seller accepted my semi-lowball offer so that's how it happened. If anyone is having doubts about the PFLs, they are so cute and their tiny size makes them useful for everything. The first one I unboxed was question mark. I love the deep lavender color and named her "Query." I also have Leonitus, Brodie, and Jeronothan but am still thinking of other names. I'm trying to be as unique as possible. Bubus are special and they don't desere names that are merely normal.

I did find out something really interesting about just how great the variations can be, even within a single box set. First, unfortunately I did get a duplicate "C," but I haven't gone back and seen which letter I'm missing yet. Second and even more interestingly, are the differences in manufacturing and foot stamps. It seems Bubus from different batches or possibly even factories will be put into full box sets together. I have a photo posted of the L and B next to each other and you can see the dramatic difference in foot stamps, despite both being sold in the same box set. The stamp on B is sharper and "Kasing" is capitalized, but on L "kasing" is not capitalized and the font is in bold. Despite this skin pigmentation is identical. Tags are the same as well (and as expected considering they came from a Pop Mart set, they scan straight to Pop Mart as legit). I guess even I have something to learn. If someone else asked me about this I'd probably have assumed the lowercase bold fonts were fufus, but now I know they aren't as they come in Pop Mart box sets. I may do a complete post on this. I'd love to hear your guys comments on this as I find it super fascinating and it completely changes my outlook on differences between batches.

Couple More $10 Soup Belly Besties 💕

Well, this Serenity isn't rlly soup tummy, but the other 2 are 😭. Yes, you guys get to watch my insanity get worse and worse, I found more. A BiE set was my first Labubu purchase and I have always LOVED BiEs in specific. They are by far my favorite series not only becuase they were my first, but because I really love the sparkly eyes and dye look of the fur. Other than my "Blueberry" who I carry with me, all my BiEs have stayed in my SUV, hanging on display behind the windshield, or in a box in back when I'm not driving.

I've finally started getting more BiEs to display (including intentional duplicates, I can never have too many I love this series) and I'm so happy. It's nice going back to where my love for Bubus really started. How many other BiE lovers are there???

I'm very worried, this is a scary sight. I think they are trying to communicate. Is my fear justified?? 😨

Well, the other day I posted that I went to the Pop Mart store for the first time, I got quite a few things there but here is the crown jewel. The unboxing experience was awesome, I couldn't believe it was actually mine. I love this guy and am honestly so happy with my impulse decision to bring him home. I adore the colors and especially love the multi-colored tail. The black fur is amazing, it's a super dark inky looking black that contrasts so well with the colorful tail, eyes, ears, and finger nails. AIC is still my favorite Zimomo but the10th anniversary is so special in its own way and you can tell from the moment you first look. I believe this is one of the most mind blowing Labubus and I love it.

I love how they fit the lawn chairs too, just wish I got another becuase I can't even lie to myself, I know IFY Zimomo is coming soon now too and he'll need a place to sit. Tomorrow I have some new shelves and hooks coming to display my Bubus and I think I'll do an update then as I start sorting my collection in a way where I can share pics of everything together!

When they said I "need help" that's what they meant right???? Well, my first visit to the nearby Pop Mart store went well. This was my first time going to one and I was a kid in a candy store. I think I bought so much candy I might be sick, but that's ok 😭. I have fully accepted my fate.
