I’ve been building a really dumb list for this past year and with the addition of Crucible Champions I was able to hone it in. Quick synopsis of the list:

Lord Solar Leontus as warlord leading a 10 man Deathrider Squad.

Lord Marshal Drier leading 10 Deathriders

3x Crucible Champions each leading 10 Rough Riders

1x Commissar leading 6 Bullgryn

1x Rogal Dorn Tank commander

2x Leman Russ Vanquishers w/ lascanon and plasma sponsons

1x Enginseer

I took them in Grizzled Company for rerolls and Commissar leading the Bullgryn. Faced off against my buddy’s newly built Demon Army. Which… demon armies are pretty cracked in my opinion with everything they get through just army rules and detachment rules. It was a hard fought battle, but I was able to jail him off the objectives with all the horses and he was too afraid of losing his Demon Lords to the tank fire power that I think he kept them back for too long for them to make any difference. Key things I learned in this game:

  1. Horses, much like infantry, hate flamers. They hit hard, but getting them in against a flamer heavy army is going to be difficult.

  2. Sometimes, charging up the board just to fall back is enough of a threat to opponents to make them want to keep their truly scary units hidden and doing nothing for a turn or two.

  3. I really want to get the charge off first in this list.

  4. Bullgryn are GREAT at soaking up damage.

It was a fun way to send off 10th for me and I learned a lot in this game about how to run this new list of mine. I’m still on the fence on whether I want to run this in Recon instead, but thats testing for another day.
